Actually the eyes are pretty much the same except the line thickness may be different. When I ink traditionally I used a pen nib and now I use a custom brush digitally. The brush leaves a thicker line than the nib. I can’t see the Retail look but Norm is an amazing cartoonist so no complaints:)
I’ve realized that with the new drawing method, the eyes are rounder and it looks more like retail if thats good or bad im not sure.
